MAY 7, 2019  |  academic year 2018-19  |  A YEAR OF WONDER
High School Spirit Week
1. Families with students in Preschool through Primary - Don’t forget that our Recitation Evenings are coming up on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9.  This is such a fabulous evening watching these little ones recite. Please review the information sent by your teachers for details.

2.
Last week, WASC (the organization that accredits California schools) visited SLOCA for three days, meeting with several groups and observing classes. We’re happy to report that their
16-page evaluation of the school was entirely positive!
Among many other things, they wrote:
  • "The success of its students can be seen in their behavior in SLOCA classes where they are spirited advocates for their education."
  • "This is a school that actively engages with its community and has a real sense of mission."
  • "A commitment of analysis and reflection fits naturally into this culture. Major progress has been made in the area of helping struggling students."
  • "It is important to note that SLOCA should be highly commended for the amazing culture they have cultivated on their campus. The moment you walk on to campus, see the students, interact with families, teachers, and staff, you can feel that this is a special and unique model."

If you’d like to read the entire report, please email Mike Godsey at mgodsey@sloclassical.org and he’ll forward a copy. Great job, Grizzlies!
