Bear Necessities - Summer Edition

1. Hello Families - Your July Smart Tuition statement will be the start of your payments for the 2019/20 school year. Statements will include Tri 3 (from this year) incomplete volunteer hour charges, summer camp charges, tuition raffle ticket charges, tuition for the new year, and roll-over balances or credits if your account from this year had them. PLEASE review your accounts for any errors and let Amy know right away by emailing her at acalloway@sloclassical.org.

2. Sports Camp for K-6 students starts this coming Monday! From 8am until 12pm, Coach Mark will be teaching our little Grizzlies a wide variety of sports, including basketball (on lowered hoops), soccer, frisbee, and even golf. Click here to register!

3. Have you finished your progress reports? They are due now! Please be sure to turn them into the front office before the last day of school!

4. Tomorrow, June 12th and Thursday, June 13th are the last days of school and are half days. If you have not already done the following, please be sure to:
* check your family file for your summer packet
* check your family file for your yearbook (if you ordered one and have not picked it up yet)
* ask the NOL for your curriculum list(s) for next year

5. Reminder: Flag Day is this Friday, June 14th. This day is among those holidays which, although they have great cultural and historical significance for us, we simply don't have the time to dedicate to learning about them during the school day. We do, however, believe that learning about these holidays is a valuable endeavor and want to assist our families in the process of understanding. 6. Do you have pics from the Medieval Feast you'd like to share? You can upload them to our Flickr account! The process has changed, so here are the instructions:

A note of thanks from our History Day Coordinator:

I am touched and humbled by the outpouring of thanks for history day, but it took a dedicated team to pull this event off! I am extraordinarily appreciative of this team, many of whom jumped in not knowing exactly what they were getting into! Our Food team: Marijke and Jeff Priest, Aaron Hilton, Lilibeth Schrantz, Debbie Lee, Erin Hellar, Tara Jacobi, Natacha Sedeek, and Michelle Bruntz. Our Decorations team: Rebecca Casagrande, Heidi Mitchell, Julie Moore, Erin Bernal, Brea Burkard, Deena Eschenbach, Ari Cortes, Joy Erb, and Shefali Vatsa. Our Entertainment committee: Leah Greenburg, Caroline Murgatroyd, and Kateri Rein. And the Logistics committee who put all the many pieces together: Shelli Rohr, Kelly Kim, Tracey Collier, Debbie Lee, and Gina Levy

I also want to express a heartfelt "Thank you" to every person who volunteered, baked, parked, cooked, wrapped, served, prepped, BBQed, supervised, trimmed trees, purchased supplies, set up, cleaned up, or helped in any other way for the feast. It was truly a group effort and we could not have done it without all of that help too.

We made it to the end of the year! Be sure to stop by the store to get a Summer Read before school is out!

We are still doing buybacks, but please keep in mind, I will be attending the 8th grade promotion on Thursday. If you bring back buybacks on that day, please have them in a bag or box with your name and email address. I will get to them after school is out and I will email you the store credit amount that you will receive.

The school store will be closed beginning June 24th - July 12th. We will re-open on July 15th for the rest of the summer. Hours will be Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Congratulations to our medal-winning archers at the recent 2019 "Inside-out 660 Shoot"!! Garrett Ferguson, Henry Bartel, and Holden Ashley finished first, second, and third respectively in the Male Barebow Cub Division; Kai Crapo won a silver in the Male Barebow Youth Division; Tyler Crapo won a bronze in the Male Sighted Compound Youth Division; and Wyatt Stapp was the star of the entire event as he won the gold medal in the Male Sighted Compound Division. According to Coach Bartel, Wyatt is "close to being internationally ranked"! Great job, Grizzlies!
